Should You Change Your Content?

Posted by expertseoservice on November 16, 2008

Search engine marketing is very important as is search engine optimization.  If you are asking the question, ‘does your content need to change?’ you might need to learn a little more about both topics.  Your content is part of the reason Google and other search engines will crawl your site and rate it.  If you want to get your ratings higher you may need to update your content.

Certainly you need to have links.  Links are important for each page as well as to have other websites link to and from you.  The links are where the crawling will be done.  Each time Google gets into your site it wants to move through it with ease.  Therefore, it wants each page to have a link back to the other and a link forward to others.  However, this is not enough.

Links are just part of what you need.  You need to have quality content on the web page to begin with.  If the content is not search engine optimized you can’t expect the consumer to search for you.  You also can’t expect Google or the search engine to offer you in the results.  This means your content needs to have top quality key words and content.
The content cannot be duplicated.  You should not just steal what works for your competition.  Find yourself a content writer that will offer you informative content that is quality as well as keyword rich.

You do need to have your content updated if you are not being crawled.  You also need to update your content every few months or every year depending on what you sell.  Consumers are going to want to see something new or they will not come back to your information source.  Keep this in mind as you look for links.

Your links have also changed.  We mentioned above that you need to have links for the search engine to crawl and that the content needs to be full of quality; however we didn’t mention quality links.
