The non-technical users can easily install it and even non-programmers can add and edit the content, upload images. The person having knowledge of word processing software can easily manage a website. This reason it is very popular in short time.

a) Delete all the sample pages or articles, links pages and other pages that comes with joomla when you installed it and launched your website. These pages are not relevant for your website and keeping useless pages will not be beneficial.
b) Redirect your website’s www and non-www version of your website to the same place.
c) Check the pages of your website by site:yourwebsitename.com. If you find any page that have no good content then change the content or remove the page from the website. This type of pages are garbage.
d) Check the size of the pages of your website in google. If possible focus on the plain websites and use less images. Heavy website will take time to load and you will miss the valuable visitors.
e) If you registered your domain for just 1 year then extend it for 4 years or more. Google supposed to be more authoritative to the domain names that are registered for the longer period of time. The spam sites are registered for short time.
f) Turn of the link from the pdf document if you are using on your website. User cannot move back to your website from the pdf file and it will save the PR juice of your website.
g) Add the button of social bookmarking websites on few pages only else you site will waste the PR juice. Only few stories are on top in digg, reddit and other social bookmarking. Instead of using social bookmarking buttons add few links of top social bookmarking in your website.
h) The content is king and the website having lots of relevant pages perform well in search engines. Add new pages regularly with fresh content.
i) If possible add blog on your website and update your blog regularly. It will help in updating your website regularly and increase ranking of your website.
j) The page name should be relevant to the content of the page and human should guess easily what the page about.
h) Your target keyword should be in the title, heading and in the body text.
